Views This piece was done for my Sculpture IIB class. The assignment was open to create something in line with the direction we've each been heading in. I decided to try and create one of my creatures in 3D. The creature design was originally inspired by my Crubitz drawing, though many major changes have been made.

A rough version of the Creature was first sculpted in clay. I originally intended to create several versions, so I made a latex mold of the clay sculpture. I then cast the creature in plaster and carved in the details. I used acrylic paint for the coloring. As you can see, I even went as far as to detail the underside of the creature even though it wouldn't be visible during the class critique.
Original Critiqued Version
I had at one point coated the sculpture with a thin layer of rubber latex. The latex gave it a nice skin quality, but started to peel off after a while, taking paint with it. As you can see, I changed the skin coloring for the re-paint.
Morph Animation
This is a morph that I created to compare the initial hydro-cal cast stage to the final carved and painted stage. Because I had originally hoped to make several Freavers with their own variations, I left the mold fairly undefined. This morph shows the amount of second stage carving I had to do.
