Information / Commentary
- This is Kevin Alexander, the fictional character from the adventure fantasy story, "The Dreamer" by Scott Massey. Kevin Alexander is a normal high school freshman, but when his older brother mysteriously goes into a coma, his life becomes anything but normal. When poisoned by the same experimental drug that induced his brother's coma, Kevin quickly learns that there is more to the drug than just sleeping. He is transported to another world known as Genetrix. While this world and its creatures are real, Kevin is there in a dream and is thus capable of things only possible in dreams. To the people of Genetrix, he is a wizard.
  
  Kevin embarks on a seemingly impossible journey in order to rescue his brother from a disturbed and exceedingly powerful dreamer who has declared himself God of Genetrix. Kevin will risk everything, against all odds, to save his brother as time is running out....
  
  This portrait of Kevin began as a photograph of the author's nephew, Rayce. I digitally sketched over the photo and then printed out the digital sketch. I then sketched with a pencil on top of that image to complete the hood and other things. I then scanned the completed sketch back in... I then digitally painted the color and shading in behind the sketch. Notice the shifting jaw in the progression sequence? The background was then created with the Black Ogre inserted based on a description by the author. I then used the 2 images to create an online trailer for the book.
