This piece is an oil painting done for my Painting II class. The subject is a toy stuffed frog sitting in a small metal box that I welded for my Sculpture I class. The toy is one of many of my ex-wife's stuffed frogs, which were attacked one day by a few of our dogs. The frogs were later repaired with duct tape. The goal of the painting was to pick an emotion and try to express that as a mood in the painting through color and brush strokes. It is also a continued study of layering of color. The emotion I picked was melancholy.
